This is one of my favorite images from my recent trip to Old Sturbridge Village in Sturbridge, MA. I find the contrast between the red, white and blue to be striking. The young lady pictured is an
interpreter at the Village. Earlier I'd watched her dipping candles before the hearth at the Freeman Farm. I'll post an image or two of this in the next day or so. It was incredibly interesting. What a hard~ but simple and beautiful~ life they must have lived in the early 1800's.
